My Pick

Tennessee Titans Analysis…

After a string 2016 campaign, the Titans were expected to contend this year, and after an 8-4 start to the season, looked like a legitimate contender. However, the team stumbled the rest of the way, losing three of their last four games to back into the playoffs.

Their reward for the way they ended their season will be a road game against a Kansas City Chiefs team that is playing very well right now.

The Titans, who were average on both offense and defense this season, will need to get their two-headed running game going against a Chiefs team that has allowed a lot of rushing yards this season.

Derrick Henry and DeMarco Murray combined for 1,403 rushing yards and eight touchdowns this season, and should be able to find some holes against the Chiefs run defense.

The only problem is Murray, who is expected to be back in the lineup on Saturday, hasn’t played since he injured his MCL in December, and will likely not be at 100 percent in this game.

Marcus Mariota will also have to do a better job taking care of the ball, after throwing 13 touchdowns and 15 interceptions this year.

Kansas City Chiefs Analysis…

The Chiefs looked like the best team in the NFL after their hot start to the season, but they went through a rough patch in which they lost six of seven games. The team was able to bounce back and finish the season on a high note, winning their last four games.

Now, they get to open up the playoffs against an inexperienced Titans team, led by Mariota, who wasn’t at his best this season.

The Chiefs had a lot of success late in the season because they went back to what was working for them this year, which was their running game. Rookie back Kareem Hunt finished the season with 1,327 yards and eight touchdowns, while helping to take pressure away from Alex smith, who was forced to do everything during their slump.

If the Chiefs offense plays like it did at the start of the season, they won’t have any problem dispatching the Titans.

Final word…

Kansas City played well to end the season while the titans did not. But the Titans were very solid on defense which means this game will likely be a close one. Take the Titans +8.5.
